AWIS is a vibrant, highly charged organization committed to helping women in STEM at every stage of their career achieve their greatest potential.  We work on multiple levels to lower the barriers and create opportunties for success.

Advocacy and Public Policy
 

AWIS advocates for initiatives that improve the status of women in STEM and continues to lead in developing improved public programs and employment policies across all disciplines and sectors.  By attending Congressional and White House events, participating in advocacy conferences, engaging the media, developing reports,and working with a variety of national coalitions, AWIS consistently raises the concerns of women in STEM to decision makers in Washington D.C. and around the country.

Leadership and Career Enhancement Programs 

AWIS national and AWIS chapters offer programs and networking opportunities specifically designed to enhance your leadership and professional skills. Whether you are just starting out or reaching for those higher rungs on the career ladder, AWIS connects you to an incredible community of professional women in STEM.

Information and Outreach Resources

Information and outreach is important to drawing attention to the issues women in STEM face and encouraging girls and young women to pursue STEM careers. Though our Educational Foundation, AWIS supports aspiring female scientists, mathematicians and engineers.  Our chapters reach out to local schools and community programs as role models and mentors for girls in K-12 as they prepare to pursue careers in STEM disciplines.
